S J Crafts May Challenge

Today saw the start of the May challenge at S J Crafts. This month Sarah has drawn up a bingo board for us to play with, you need to select 3 boxes from the grid in a line (horizontal/vertical or diagonal) and include the items or technique in those 3 boxes on your project. 

For my card I decide to use the top row Ink/Mist - Border Punch - Circle(s). I started with a circular card blank which I covered with Kraft card, I cut a circle of pale blue card and stamped onto this with my Visible Image Retro Dots stamp using Weathered Wood Distress Ink and a White Versamark ink pad. I cut two strips of card with a Fiskers Threading Water border punch. The cute fish image is from Meljen's Designs as is the background stamp, both have been coloured with promarkers. I added Glossy Accents to the bubbles in the water and some stickles to the swirls in the image.

S J Crafts- November challenge

This months challenge at S J Crafts is

Christmas

 with the added optional challenge of  "mix up the alphas"

I've made an Easel Card Luminaire for this months challenge. I've used this gorgeous Hero Arts stamp. Papers are old ones from my stash which I have inked with Antique Linen distress ink. I kept the embellishments quite simple just adding a couple of sticky backed pearls to the corners and the cute little wooden deer. I've kinda done the optional part of the challenge by using a sentiment with different fonts.

I thought I would do a little tutorial to show you how easy it is to make this special Christmas card.

 

First of all you will need to pieces of card the larger piece is 23 x 19 cm and scored down the middle like a card blank. The smaller piece is 12.5 x 19cm and is scored at 1cm down the shorter side. The black lines in the photo are the score lines.



Add your pretty papers to one half of the larger piece and the smaller piece leaving the bit above the score line blank. I have inked my paper with Antique Linen distress ink and then gone around the edges with a gold ink pad.

Next stamp your image onto Vellum and allow to dry. While you wait cut a hole in the smaller piece of card to fit your image.

Once your image is dry you need to frame it I've used a spellbinders frame set and die cut my frame,  stick your frame to you image.

Place the framed image over the hole that you cut in the smaller piece of card and stick.

Now take your larger piece of card and along the top edge of the bit you left undecorated attach the smaller piece by the 1 cm strip that you left blank.

 

You should now have something that resembles a easel card  just add your stopper I used a sentiment on my card and add any embellishment you want.

The candle just sits behind the front panel and as you can see I've added a strip of paper around the candle to tie it in with the card.

Birthdays At S J Crafts

 Time for a new challenge at S J Crafts and this month Sarah has choosen

Birthday's with the added extra of either circles or ovals.

No I have taken the circle them to the extreme and used a circular card blank, paper with spot's ( there circular right?) Cut a circular frame and made flowers from circles. I have used this pretty fairy from Wee Stamps again bus she is just so sweet and a dream to colour. I've used promarkers to colour her and lots of stickles to give her wings some fairy sparkle. Around the edge of the image I think you can just see I used Tattered Rose distress inks to give a pink glow.

I made my flowers by cutting circles out with my dies  and scrunching them up. Once opened back up I used 4 circles for each flower and pined them together with some brads. The DP on the card and the flowers is from MME Nostalgia pad ( Which Sarah has in the shop for a bargin price of only £4 I love this pad and it is perfect for both male and female cards have a look at my post here)

Febuary's S J Crafts Challenge

 It's time for our 2nd challenge over at S J Crafts this time our challenge is Flowers with the added extra of using Red or Pink. Sarah is offering a fab prize of

 MME Howdy Doody 6 x6 pad

 Onto my card I have used paper from another of the new release MME pads this time Dolled Up which I have teamed with a Fizzy Moon stamp which I coloured using promarkers & flexmarkers. I coloured the doily with the pale grey color as the white was to stark against the paper and then stuck a circle cut with my nesties of pink gingham which also comes from the paper pad . I stamped the sentiment with Black Memento ink directly onto the DP using one of the doily images on the paper to frame it. I kept the embellishments simple to show of the DP so have just one prima flower which has been coloured with my promarkers, in the centre of it I die cut a button from the pink gingham covered it in glossy accents and tied some pink twine through it.

Promarkers & flexmarkers used:

Muted pink (f), cocktail pink, pale pink, watermelon (f), daffodil bloom, marsh green, olive green & warm grey 1,2,3,4,5.

Mens cards

This morning I taught my first card class for S J Crafts, we made 2 cards these are the male cards that we did.

  I've use some little Inkadinkado stamps coloured them with promarkers & flexmarkers. On the shell of the tortoise  and the lizards spots I've used glossy accents to make it shiny.

The DP is Echo Park A Boy's Life on both cards with a base of Kraft card. I used a black gel pen to add some faux stitching and finished the card of with some card candy.

S J Crafts 1st Challenge!!!!!

Today marks the first challenge at S J Crafts it's an easy peasy one this month the theme is "Happy" with an optional extra of using a punch.

 so this could be a Happy New Year layout, or take a photo of something that makes you happy and scrap it, use the title "Happiness is .... " or maybe a "Happy Birthday" card a "Happy Anniversary" card or a stamped image that portrays happiness .... or anything else that "Happy" inspires you to create.

The "added extra" this month is "use a punch" ... so this could be a border punch or a regular punch, it's up to you!

Closing date for entries is: 15th February at 1pm.

For my card I have used paper from MME Breeze patterned paper,  matted onto some Kraft cardstock, I used the fab image from Digi Doodle Shop coloured with promarkers and layered onto some oval's cut with my nesties. I've turned the top corner down and fastened it with a brown brad to add a bit of interest. I used some cotton tape ribbon in orange to match my image across the middle of my card layered on too yet more Kraft card which has been punched with my  Martha Stewart arch lattice punch. The top part of the sentiment is printed onto some Kraft and then cut out and the bottom sentiment was printed directly onto the patterened paper.
